Knowledge is a liberating force and is our age it has metamorphosised into a democratising force, cutting across the barriers of prejudice and ignorance, smoothing out the various disparities between human beings. Knowledge has also come a long way, from being power to becoming powerful vision.
Our culture, since time immemorial, has valued the quest for knowledge as a worthy pursuit, the only way to salvation (nirvana). It has been assigned the status of an enlightened torch which lights the way to success and the weapon that shields on from various tempting pitfalls of life. Kautilya, the famous ancient scholar, considered knowledge as the foremost distinguishing attribute in a person and wrote that" a king is admired only in his own territory but a knowledgeable scholar commands admiration and respect worldwide."

In fact, knowledge has enjoyed the status of being the most coveted human achievements in other cultures too. In the legendary competition between beauty, power and knowledge, it was knowledge which overpowered the other two contenders. Shakespeare in HENRY IV describes it as "the wing wherewith we fly to Heaven".
We, being academicians, have a life long commitment to his invaluable engagement of acquiring knowledge and should devote all our talents and energies to this worthy pursuit. We should be sources of mutual inspiration in this dynamic process of self-realisation and self-actualisation, and should pledge to pursue it to the farthest end.
I have a grudge, which I hope will be fulfilled by the students with the cooperation of the staff as management has announced since the last three years a cash reward of Rs. 50000/- to a student coming to the merit list of Punjab University or P.S.E.B. and Rs. 20000/- to the teachers of that class.
I am grateful to the residents of Illaqua and administration for support to achieve our dream of new proposed pollution free environment building on Nangal road. |

I feel great pleasure in handing the issue of our College Magazine. Over the years the college has achieved continuing success in serving the cause of female education in this area. The college presents a happy blend of traditional and modern education where knowledge is imparted to the students so that they may occupy a better place in the modern competitive world and develop all round personalities retaining the beauty of mind and intellect as well as of soul. It has made its mark in academic, sports and cultural fields. |

I can feel proud of its Alumni who are holding responsible position in social, political and economic life of the nation. All this has been possible with the dedicated and streneous efforts of the able managing committee and hardwork and experienced faculty and also with the whole-hearted co-operation of the people of the area to whom. I am highly grateful. I assure that college will play a meaningful role in the competitive times ahead and scale new heights, translating the dreams of the people of the area into reality and bring education in this rural area.
I pray for future growth and prosperity of the college and wish the managements, staff and students all success in the years to come. |
